All About Passwords
The BidPlus Millennium
software has to make use of several different passwords. There
is your own ISP number and password, your file number and
Unimatic/Apollo passwords, and your Bidplus account number (your
file number) and Password. Please give us a minute to explain
how we use each one. We
also recommend that you review the Connection Overview section,
as well as our Security and Privacy Statement .
Your
Own ISP Password
Unimatic/Apollo Password BidPlus Password
Your Own ISP Password (top) - When using your own ISP, you need to establish a
connection first before the BidPlus software is even utilized. So
from the BidPlus perspective, there are no passwords to
consider. If you are having a connection problem, then you will need
to contact your own ISP's technical support.
Your Unimatic/Apollo
Passwords
(top) - Your File Number and
Unimatic or Apollo passwords are the most familiar to you. You will
be prompted by the program to enter this information either during
the registration process, or the first time you attempt to access
Unimatic or Apollo. This is the
information that BidPlus will use to sign you onto Unimatic and
Apollo. To change it yourself at any time, click on the Options
menu, and then choose Personal Information.
***VERY
IMPORTANT*** Sign-on
Failure - Both
Unimatic and Apollo each only allow you 3 failed attempts to sign
on. After the 3rd failed attempt, both Unimatic
and Apollo will lock you out. At that point, you will need to
contact your coordinator to reset your access.
To
prevent this from happening, BidPlus will present you with a warning
the first time a sign-on attempt has failed. While still online, but
not yet signed onto Unimatic or Apollo, you will get the Sign-on
Failure dialog box.
At this point, BidPlus gives you the opportunity to enter
the correct Password. Now click Continue. BidPlus will then
attempt to sign-on again using the newly entered Password. If the
sign-on is successful, then BidPlus will automatically change the
Password in your Personal Information to the correct one, and then
use that one from now on. However, if it fails again, you will once
again be presented with the Sign-on Failure dialog box. At this
point you should carefully consider if you are really sure what the
correct password is. Remember, a third failed attempt will lock you
out!
Expired Passwords - Occasionally, your Unimatic and Apollo Passwords
are going to expire and require you to change them. It is best to do
this manually as an automatic sign-on attempt will continue to fail
if a Password change is being required. Simply enter the new
Password as you normally do at work. Once the Password is
successfully changed, you should then be sure to change it in
BidPlus as well (Options menu/Personal Information).
Here's a hint!---Sometimes you will want to just keep your Password
the same all the time. Even after Unimatic/Apollo has required that
you change it. Here's what you do. Once you have signed on with your
new Password, clear the screen and then type STD/file# (STD/12345).
Then hit Enter. You will then be presented with the Unimatic or
Apollo screen that allows you to change your Password. At this
point, you are able to change it right back to what you prefer. Then
just tab down to the bottom and transmit. Now your favorite Password
is once again in place, and you don't need to change it in BidPlus!
Your BidPlus Password
(top) - BidPlus requires that you
create a Password at the time you first register the program. The Password must be between 6 and 16
characters long, and can be a combination of letters and numbers, but
no spaces and no symbols. It can be the same as your
Unimatic or Apollo Password if you like. It is up to you. Your BidPlus Password
never expires. But it is not something that you will need to use often.
So make sure that it is something that you will remember. Please, write
it down somewhere!
BidPlus also
uses an account number. We have decided to use your UAL File number
as your BidPlus account number just to keep things simple.
You will be required to enter your File number and
BidPlus Password any time you want to access your BidPlus account
information to purchase additional time, or any time you want to
register an additional computer.
Forget Your Password?-- BidPlus will allow you 3 attempts to successfully
enter your File number and BidPlus Password. After the third failed
attempt, the program will permanently lock you out. If you forget
your BidPlus password, click on the link that will have your
password automatically emailed to you. You need to ensure to keep
your email address up to date in your profile.
