There are two primary problems that we have encountered with the IE7 and the Vista and Windows 7 operating system and BidPlus.

The first is the error message: “Unable to create encryption key”. The second is the user’s inability to activate/update their Profile or make a purchase of additional time. Here are the solutions to both of those problems.

Here are the steps for addressing the error message: “Unable to create encryption key”.

From the Windows desktop, RIGHT CLICK the BidPlus shortcut (the icon that says BP2K). Then select Properties.
Select the "Shortcut" tab, and then click the "Advanced button". Check the box that says "Run as Administrator", then click Ok.

Disable the phishing fliter in Internet Explorer: Tools-->Internet Options-->Advanced.

Reinstall the JVM (click Terminal, then choose Option-->Install JVM)

There will probably need to be some tweaking of the settings along the way.

The most important things were disabling the user account control and phishing, and unchecking "Enable Native XMLHTP support" in the advanced menu (just above Disable Phishing). Also in tools menu under Internet Options, Security, both Internet and Local Intranet, lower the settings to low and uncheck the "Enable Protected Mode" in order to upgrade BP2K -- after the upgrade you can run the program fine with Internet and Intranet set to medium and also enabling the "Protected Mode".
