Selecting Lines Using the EOM (End Of Month) Legality Calculation

BidPlus has the ability to calculate your EOM legalities (8:24, overlap, & illegal rest only - 30:7 will be added later). The benefit is that you can search for lines that have either no legality problem, so you don't have to fix it later. Or you can search for lines that do have a legality problem, so you won't have to fly the first ID of the month. Or you can search for all lines, and just have the program notify you of any EOM legality problems.

Start on the Criteria Selection screen. To begin, click on the 'Tools' button at the bottom.

This will open up the Configure dialog box. You will see the Legalities button there at the bottom. Simply click on it to open the Legalities dialog box.

You can also get directly to the Legalities dialog box by clicking on the 'Scales' button in the button bar at the top.

This is the Legalities Dialog Box.

In this example, the dialog box is already filled in. The information used here is taken directly from the last day of the last ID in the old month. You simply type in the information. What this does is let the program know how much time you flew on the last day, and what your arrival time is. Then when you do a search, it will look at all of the lines and automatically determine which lines have an EOM problem. Then depending on which selection you made at the bottom (either Select all Lines, provide advisories only, or Select legal Lines only - block all conflicts, or Select only illegal lines - as we have done in this example) the program will only show you what you have asked.

Obviously if you select either the 2nd or 3rd option, then you are restricting your search and limiting it to either all legal Lines, or all illegal lines. By doing this, you are requesting to not be shown all of the lines. When you do this, the resulting number of lines will be less then if you choose the first option, which does include all lines in your search and simply tell you which ones have a problem.

If you have restricted your search, then the program will warn you in two different ways. It will place a "Restricted Search" notice in red directly beneath the Tools button at the bottom.

And it will place to big red exclamation marks inside of the Configure dialog box that you will see anytime you click on the Tools button, and you have restricted your search.

These same two warnings are used any time you restrict your search. Even if you are using a different feature such as the Configure feature .

Now that you have setup your Legalities feature, you can procede with your search for criteria as normal. Only now, when you do your search, if a Line that fits your criteria happens to have a legality problem, then when you go to view the Lines, each Line will display a warning in red and tell you exactly what that legality is (8:24, Overlap, or Illegal Rest - 30:7 is not currently calculated, but will be added soon).

Remember, if you have restricted your search to only select illegal lines, then you will only see the illegal lines that also happen to fit any other criteria that you may have selected (like check-ins after 0900, or whatever you happen to choose).
