The Day Expansion Feature

The Day Expansion Feature allows you to apply certain criteria, such as a check-in or arrival time, or a particular layover city, to any one specific day only with out affecting the rest of your criteria.

To begin, click on the desired day on the calendar with the right mouse button. You will be presented with the Day Expansion dialog box.

In this example, we will use the layover location. Click on the down arrow to expose the list of layover cities that are specific to this domicile. We will use SFO as our layover city.

Now scroll to find the desired city. Once you locate the city, simply click on it to enter it into the layover location box.

Click OK once you have finished. You will then see that the Day Expansion feature has been engaged and is indicated by a small line directly above the date to which it is applied. In this example, we have also indicated that this day (the 13th) is to be a day on as well by double clicking on it and turning it blue.

This is the only criteria that we will enter. Now when you click on the Search button, the program will only produce those lines that have a layover in SFO on the 13th.

Once the search is finished (in about 1 second), you can then click on theView button at the bottom to see the results. Here are the results of the search. Let's start at the top of this graphic. You are looking at the left half of the normal Review and Edit screen . The numbers 63, 87, 110, etc are the resulting line numbers for our search. When we click on Line 63 it turns blue, and displays the entire Line 63 in the middle window. We are looking at the 1st half of line 63 in the middle. The arrow cursor is pointing at ID# 3170 on the 13th. When we click on the ID itself, it turns red and displays ID#3170 in its entirety in the bottom window. Please note that there is a layover in SFO on the 13th just as requested. If you were to click on any of the other line numbers at the top, they too would contain IDs with layovers in SFO on the 13th.

You could also add some additional criteria and make this a non-stop as well by requesting only 1 leg per day. Additionally, you could request all lines with a minimum layover time of say 17 hours. You could also say that you don't want any all-nighters. The more criteria you add, the smaller the number of lines that will fit it. But you can see just how specific you can get with BidPlus!

This feature can also be applied to check-in and arrival times for a specific day.
