Manual Bidding
BidPlus provides you with the ability to review and
select your Lines by hand as opposed to having the program select
them automatically. By doing your manual bidding with the program,
you still have the advantage of additional information, such as
instant ID information, your holiday pay and paycheck, as well as
the ability to
manage and edit the Lines
that you do select. Additionally, when you accomplish your Manual
Bidding through BidPlus, you are still able to use the program to
automatically
submit your bids to the Unimatic LOFBID .
Immediately below is an explanation of how Manual Bidding
works. Click
here for a step by step
example of Manual Bidding.
Please be aware, there is no
"bid card" per se for you to fill out
and submit your bids if those selections were accomplished outside
of the program.
To
begin, please start on the Criteria Selection
screen.
Next, click on the View menu at the top, and then choose Unselected
Lines.
You are now presented with the Unselected Lines
screen.
The Unselected Lines screen is nearly identical to the
Review and Edit screen. These
are all of the Lines in your
bid package including
language, XSC, and Reserve. There is no Bid Bank and no Bid position
displayed like in the Review and Edit screen because these
Lines have not yet been selected. So they are not yet part of a
Bank, and consequently they
are not yet part of the bid.
The screen is divided into 3 windows. The top window
contains all of the Line numbers for the bid package. The Line
numbers are in numerical order. The first Line number is
automatically highlighted. When a Line number is highlighted in the
top window, that LOF is displayed in its entirety in the middle
window.
The IDs in the LOF are displayed just as you are
accustomed to seeing them. The first ID is highlighted in red by
default, and that ID is displayed in its entirety in the bottom
window. To view another ID in the LOF, simply click on it. It too
will be displayed in the bottom window.
The LOF
display in the middle window also contains additional information
such as (from left to right): Days Off
(16), Credit/Blk (69.18/69.18), #F/A (3), Hol$
(Holiday Pay - $147.02), O/L-> (Overlap
Hours - 0.00), Est. Pay: (Estimated Paycheck - 3574.15)
Manual Bidding is best accomplished by using the
Cut and Paste technique. It is suggested that you use the repetitive cut
method, which involves using the Direction
Arrows on your keyboard and the 'Enter' key. This is the preferred method
for Manual Bidding.
Cutting
Simply use the Direction Arrows on your keyboard to move
through the Line numbers. Each time a desired Line number has been
highlighted, simply hit the Enter key and cut it out. Then use the
direction arrows to move on to the next desired Line number and
repeat. Once all of the desired Line numbers have been cut out, they
can then be pasted all at one time into a
Bank.
Pasting
Pasting is the ability to
replace a Line that was previously cut. Pasting requires that you
identify the new location, or target. This is done by highlighting a
Line number or Bank. If a Line number on the
Review and Edit screen is
highlighted, even in a different Bank, then any cut Lines will be
pasted immediately in front of that highlighted Line
number.
BidPlus also allows you to return to the Criteria Selection
screen,
and then paste a cut LOF, or group of cut LOFs, directly into a
Bank. Again, the highlighted Bank will be the target. The pasted
LOFs will be placed in front of any pre-existing Lines in that Bank.
There are 2 methods used to initiate the paste operation.
One is the standard Windows keyboard method of Ctrl+V. With this method, once you have
identified and highlighted your target, you then hold the Ctrl key
down, and while holding it down, you hit the letter 'V'. This action
will paste any cut lines in front of the target Line number, or
into the target Bank.
The other method for
pasting is to use the Paste button in the button bar. Clicking
on it will likewise paste your cut Lines.
Here
Is an Example Of The Manual Bidding Process
To begin,
use the Direction Arrows on your keyboard and move until you find a
desired Line.
Now that we have found the Line we want (18), hit the
Enter Key to cut it out.
Notice that Line 18 is now gone. It has been cut out and
is waiting to be pasted. We can cut out a few more Lines before
pasting them all at once. Now let's move to the next desired Line.
(30)
Hit the Enter key to cut Line 30 out.
Use the Direction Arrow ( or point and click) and find
the next Line. (1006)
Hit Enter to cut Line 1006 out.
One more time. Find the last desired Line.
(2401)
Hit Enter to cut Line 2401 out.
There are now 4 Lines cut out, 18, 30, 1006, & 2401,
and waiting to be pasted. Now click on the 'Poof' button and return
to the Criteria Selection window.
Since this is the beginning of the Manual Bid process,
then you will see only one Bank, and it is empty.
Now click on the Paste button to paste the 4 cut Line
Numbers...
...and you will see that the Bank now contains the 4
paste Lines.
Now, to view the 4 Lines, either double click directly on
the Bank itself, or click on the View button at the
bottom.
You are now presented with the Review and Edit screen of
Bank 1 displaying the 4 Lines that we cut and pasted.
At this point, you can click the 'Poof' button to return
to Criteria Selection screen...
...then click on the 'Add button at the
bottom...
...which will create a new empty Bank so that you can
continue the process.
Or you can
position bid , or add reserve , or add relief , or procede to
upload your bids to LOFBID
.
One thing to consider, why look through all of the Lines
first? Once you understand how the automatic selection process
works, you can do a search for the Lines containing the general
criteria. Then use the Manual Bidding technique from one of the
Banks, which will be much smaller then going through all of the
Unselected Lines, which is basically the entire bid
package.
To view your printing options, you must be on either the
Unselected Lines screen, or on the Review and Edit screen. Click on
the Printer button in the button bar.
To close this window and return to the Criteria Selection
screen, click on the 'Poof' button in the button bar.
Be sure to review the topic covering
Viewing All IDs
in the Bid
Package.
