Automatic Arrangement Of LOFs In A Bank
BidPlus has provided you with an automatic Line
arrangement tool that is invaluable in contributing to the
flexibility of this program. In addition to the
Cut and Paste , and Drag and Drop Editing, with
this tool, you are able to arrange the Lines in a Bank in just about
any order you like in a matter of seconds.
Please be sure to review the Criteria Selection
topic, and
the Bank Overview topic in order
to have a better understanding of how Editing works.
By
default, the Lines that are automatically selected and placed in a
Bank are arranged in numerical order. This order is rarely the order
that is desired. Starting on the Criteria Selection screen, notice
the phrase 'Line Number' in blue, just to the left of the Criteria
Sentence area.
This is your indication that the Lines in this Bank will
be arranged in numerical order. Now notice the Sort Bank button
in the button bar.
Although the phrase 'Line Number' is only available on
the Criteria Selection screen, the Sort Button is available from
both the Criteria Selection screen and the Review and Edit screen.
Clicking on either the phrase 'Line Number', or clicking on the Sort
Button will present you with the Line Arrangement Dialog
Box.
Notice that the arrangement order is set to 'Least to
Most' by default. Now, click on the list box and display the list of
possible arrangement criteria.
In this example, we will select 'Holiday Pay'.
Notice that the arrangement direction has now
automatically changed to "Most to Least". Now click OK, and then
notice that the phrase 'Line Number' has now changed to 'Holiday
Pay'.
A Line arrangement change can me accomplished either
before or after a Search. If the arrangement selection is made prior
to a search, then the resulting LOFs will automatically be arranged
in this order. If the change is made after a Search when Lines
already exist in the Bank, then those Lines will be re-arranged
immediately.
It is highly likely that 2 or more LOFs in the Bank will
end up with the exact same value in their arrangement request, such
as Holiday Pay. In the case of a tie, then those effected Lines will
be arranged in numerical order relative to each other. They will
still be in order of Holiday Pay (or whatever the arrangement
criteria is) relative to the other LOFs.
In order to break the tie, BidPlus has provided you with
additional flexibility. By opening up the Line Arrangement dialog
box again, you are able to select a second criteria by which to sort
the Lines that end up in a tie.
When you click OK, this additional arrangement request is
now displayed on the Criteria Selection screen.
Be careful not to choose a second criteria that might
conflict with the first. For example, the criteria of Line Number
will never cause a tie. So to add a second criteria such as Holiday
Pay would be ineffective.
