Inconsistencies in the AOL network
continue.
The first thing to try is updating your
profile. That seems to "kick it" for many.
We have also heard back from
some users that if you have more then one profile on your
BidPlus program that switching to the second one and signing
on and then changing back to the first one again gets you past
the problem.
Here are some additional items
to review:
1. Be sure that you do indeed have all of the WinXP
critical updates. You can check by clicking Start-->Windows
Update.
2. Be
sure to empty the temporary internet files. In BidPlus,
click on the Options menu, and then choose Internet Options.
Then click on the General tab.
3. In BidPlus, click Options-->Internet
Options. Under the General tab, go to Temporary Internet
Files, and then click the Settings button. Notice the 4
settings choices at the top of that screen under the "Check
for newer versions of stored pages" heading. Be sure
the choice that says "Every visit to the page" is
selected.
4. Go to Options-->Internet
Options-->Connections Tab-->Lan Settings Button. Select
ONLY Automatic Dection of Proxy settings. DO NOT select the
address or Local Proxy.
5. If you are
using IE 6, click on TOOLS, Internet Options,
Privacy, Advanced, and then check the "Override
Automatic Cookie Handling. In the column "First Party
Cookie" check to Accept. In the column
"Third Party Cookie" check to Accept. Then
click "OK".
6. If you are using Norton
Anti-virus, be sure that the Nav autoprotect is disabled. It
will prevent your from downloading the netlet. Also, be aware
of any other Firewall software that you may have installed
that came with your computer such as Zone Alarm Pro or
Adsubtract. They can all cause problems with either your
connection, or with downloading the netlet.
7. Now open BidPlus and click
on the Profiles menu, and then choose Create/Update User
Profile. Then click on the Update button. That should allow
the the profile to be updated and move you past the error
message.
