Macintosh Users
The BidPlus
Millennium program is designed as a PC program, although it can
be used with a Macintosh computer as well. There is no Macintosh version
of BidPlus. In order to use BidPlus with a Macintosh, you will
need to either be running a Mac that can also run a PC program.
Or you will need to purchase and install a Windows emulator that
will allow you to run PC programs on your Macintosh.
We have one of our users
that is helping us to get Macintosh users going. His name is Steven
Franco, and his e-mail address is sfranco@san.rr.com. He is pretty
knowledgeable, so please drop him a line. Here are his instructions
for getting BidPlus setup on your Macintosh:
BidPlus
is a windows based program but you can use it with your Mac. In
order to do so you must have a Mac program that emulates windows
therefore, creating a windows environment on your Mac.
There are two types
of Mac’s in the market today. Apple has gone from using
Motorola chips to Intel chips thus these Macs have different requirements
for running BidPlus.
If you have a Motorola
equipped Mac you are using a G3, G4 or G5. The only software available
is from a company called Parallels their web address is: http://www.parallels.com/en/
Microsoft purchased “Connectix” (a company that pioneered
“Virtual PC”) but now Microsoft will no longer support
this product so it is no longer available. You may download a
trial copy of their software.
If you have an Intel
Mac (newest Macs) the best software is made by a company called
“VMWare”, here is the direct link to the product.

Now, once you install
either of these products you must have an operating system to
go with it. Remember the program that emulates a windows environment
on your Mac is like having a computer within a computer but that
environment still needs a system to operate with. You should have
a copy of Windows XP (full copy or upgrade) and once you open
the application put the disk into the Mac and the program you
installed will also install Windows XP in the application itself.
Once you complete the installation you now have a windows machine
inside your Mac, complete with all the regular software that comes
with windows, all you have to do now is to open “Windows
Explorer” and download BidPlus, the rest is self explanatory.
As with all software I strongly recommend that you take advantage
of the tutorials available at the vendors website so you can better
understand how to use the application to its fullest. The unique
part of these “emulators” is that although they create
a windows environment in your Mac still retains the elegance and
usability of the Mac.

All the best
Steven Franco
